MATERIAL CLUES TO TRAINING FIGHTING DOGS
- WASHTUB: dogs are washed down prior to fight to ensure they have not been coated with anything to harm the other dog
- BARRELS: metal barrels are often used as shelter, placed horizontally with a hole for entering and exiting, and plastic barrels attatched to poles that are used for the same purpose.
- CHAINS: chains vary in length and weight, used for confinement, and to strengthen neck muscles.
- WEIGHTS: used for strength training, may be attached to chains.
- JENNY OR CATMILL: looks like a horse walker, on one side is the dog and on the other the bait, dogs chase the bait, when exercise is done bait is given to the dogs as a reward.
- TREADMILL OR SLATMILL: used for endurence, strength, and speed training, a slatmill is a treadmill with wooden slats.
- RAPE OR BREEDING STAND: stand used to strap and immobilize female dogs for breeding.
- BITE STICK: short wooden sticks with tapered ends, used to pry apart the dogs safely.
- SPRING POLE: used to reinforce the strength of the dogs bite, a rope hanging from a tree branch with a tire on the end
