All fighting dogs begin training at a very young age, but the method of training depends on the level and experience of the trainer. The dogs go through stength and endurence training, so that they will be able to fight harder and longer then their opponent. The dogs are trained to fight through a series of mock fights with older and more experienced dogs to see if their ready for a real fight. Some professional fighters give their dogs quality nutrition, basic veterinary care, and strict exercise. Dogs are often given illegal and leagl drugs such as anabolic steroids to increase muscle mass and aggression. Narcotics are often used before a fight to enhance aggression and mask the pain the dog will feel. Street fighters may use methods of starvation, physical abuse, and drugs to make the dogs more aggressive. All fighting dogs live a short life of isolation on a short chain. The isolation deprives the dogs of healthy socialization with other dogs and people other then the dogs handlers. In a fight the winning dog is praised by it's owners, but the losing dog is left  uncared for or is killed with a bullet to the head or stranglation. The only exception made for a losing dog is if the dog has had a good past performance or comes from a valuable bloodline. The dogs have their ears cropped and tails docked close to their bodies to prevent the opposing from reading any signals the other dog may give and to limit the number of places the other dog can grab on to. The tail and ears are inhumanely cut by using kitchen shears or a saw.
